Agility
A fun and very energetic dog agility sport, where the dog must overcome various obstacles indicated by the owner as quickly as possible. In this sport, the dog and owner are one strong team, which creates a very strong bond between them. While training in this sport, the pet learns to understand the human body language, and living with such a pet becomes a real fairy tale! Additionally, this sport stimulates the mind and trains the body! In the game, both the dog and the owner experience many positive emotions, as emotions are what motivate the dog to obey the owner’s many commands one after the other.
Lure Coursing
Lure coursing is a dog sport that imitates rabbit hunting. In this sport, dogs chase a fake rabbit. Whippets are hunting dogs, so it is very important to maintain this breed characteristic, which is why dogs are tested and compete in Lure coursing competitions. For whippets, this is the greatest natural pleasure (after sleeping in the owner’s bed). Training and competitions are held in spacious fields, and artificial obstacles (such as hay bales or bodies of water) may be used. The lure (the rabbit imitation) is pulled by a special mechanism, with its speed regulated by an operator. In order for a dog to participate in Lure Coursing competitions, the dog must pass a qualifying run, the main purpose of which is to determine whether the dog has the necessary working qualities.
Frisbee
Frisbee is one of the ways we spend leisure time with our dogs. It’s a great way to strengthen the bond with your dog and an easy way to physically tire them out. While it may seem like a simple game, it requires proper preparation. Many dogs easily learn and absolutely love playing frisbee, but when starting, it’s important to teach your pet how to properly catch the flying disc. The best way to do this is to sign up for a few introductory lessons with a specialist, where you will learn the basic principles of frisbee training. Whippets are very enthusiastic dogs with a well-developed catching instinct, so we highly recommend trying this game.
